As winter approaches, people start thinking about cooking and baking as they gravitate toward cozy indoor activities. The eBook Public Library Collection and MasterFILE Complete from MeL provide recipes and techniques to keep everyone busy all winter long.
Countertop appliances have become a popular way to make cooking and cleanup fast and easy. The eBook Public Library Collection from MeL can support this with cookbooks that provide recipes, as well as tips and tricks to get the most out of these handy gadgets. If your Library of Things includes these appliances, you might include a QR code to help lead patrons to the best MeL eResources. Check out these options:
In addition to eBook cookbooks, periodicals included in MasterFILE Complete have monthly featured articles that can help save time and money when preparing meals. By setting an alert to receive these articles each month, you can quickly and easily find recipes to make meal planning a breeze. Subscribing to receive featured articles can also be an asset in planning for programming and collection development.
Using a Boolean Search can help locate featured articles in a publication. For example, searching the phrase Weeknight Cooking AND SO Food Network Magazine will yield the Weeknight Cooking feature from the source (SO) Food Network Magazine.
If you would like to receive an alert for a featured article, click Share on the right side of the search results and then choose the type of alert you would like to receive (sign in to an EBSCO account in the top menu to receive an email alert).
Examples of some great featured articles for cooking enthusiasts include:
MasterFILE Complete articles are available in PDF and/or HTML format. The PDF version of each article includes the images as they were printed in the original publication. The HTML version includes accessibility features such as translation, text to speech, and highlighting.
Using MeL’s eBook Public Library Collection and MasterFILE Complete can make trying out new techniques and recipes a simple and enjoyable experience for all types of cooks.
